I had this happen also - dog was diagnosed with cancer and on the same day had to put 2 old horses who were attached down as one had unrecoverable colic. You will get thru it but it will seem like you are just doing the motions of living and running on automatic.
At least you knew it was 'time' to say good bye. A lot of people would not and could not do it unless it was very very bad and they were forced to call the vet. And then the vet would of made the decision. So you did 'right' by your loved ones in my HO.
