I tried pelleted for about a year but are now using shavings again!!! It worked good with my clean mare but got too dusty and with my messy gelding it was very hard to take care of. Yes I think it was a little cheeper but to me NOT worth it. I like straw but it takes a little getting used to and my gelding eats it like crazy!!! Never tried it but I'm sure some on here will tell you about paper......
